About The Session

In a world increasingly shaped by urbanisation and sustainability imperatives, the packaging industry and smart cities share a common challenge—minimising environmental impact while enhancing efficiency. However, significant development opportunities exist between these sectors. In this dynamic session, Mark Thomas, an international leader in smart cities, sustainability, and urban innovation, will explore how smart city sustainability practices and digital innovations can help the packaging industry reduce waste, optimise supply chains, and unlock new business opportunities.

This session will provide practical insights into how packaging companies can align with city-led circular economy initiatives, leverage data-driven waste reduction strategies, and engage in smart city partnerships to drive business growth. Through case studies and real-world applications, participants will discover new ways to integrate AI, digital traceability, and IoT into their sustainability strategies while tapping into city-driven procurement opportunities.
